Job Summary
The Senior Supervisor leads, trains and manages staff for assigned unit and works with other members of the Management team and various units within the Clerk’s Office and Court to ensure smooth operations and that all statutory duties of the Clerk’s Office are being executed in a timely fashion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directs and manages the work of staff in the assigned unit in the Clerk of Court’s Office.
Maintains standards and allocates personnel to ensure timely caseflow to meet legal and internal requirements.
Maintains appropriate production levels for all caseflow activities.
Analyzes staff production and statistical reports.
Proposes and implements modifications and improvements to caseflow processes.
Identifies required competencies and trains staff. Identifies employee performance deficiencies and develops improvement plans.
Communicates with Judges, Magistrates, court personnel, attorneys, and the public regarding caseflow processes and problems.
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Possess a creative mind with an ability to recommend improvements.
Update office policies and procedures as needed.
Prepare reports and presentations with statistical data, as assigned.
Answer queries from employees and clients.
Assess staff performance and provide coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency.
Ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information within the office to help facilitate other operations.
Manage schedules and deadlines.
Monitor inventory of office supplies and the purchasing of new material with attention to budgetary constraints.
Develops rewards and incentives for quality performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has supervisory accountability for other employees, volunteers, or interns. Plans, directs and coordinates activities for a unit. Duties may include scheduling and assigning of work, training in all facets of work, quality control, and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others. Conducts performance evaluations, provides input into and participates in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes, and is accountable for editing timecards in Kronos for assigned staff.
Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers, telephones, scanners, and microfilm machine.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.
Working Conditions
Potential exposure to hazardous situations that may occur in the court environment. Must be able to tolerate exposure to evidence and testimony that may be disturbing, clients who may potentially be verbally or physically uncooperative, allergens, such as perfumes and dust, stressful situations.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
A thorough understanding of Court operations (demonstrable knowledge of iCase) preferred); must be willing to work as part of a management team; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills; problem solving and leadership skills; attention to detail; ability to keep accurate records. Must be well organized, able to handle confidential materials, and work effectively under pressure. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, hands-on experience with office machines (e.g. fax machines and printers) and familiarity with email scheduling tools.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and/or related experience in a Court or legal environment (one year of college equals two years of experience)
AND
Three (3) years of work experience managing a group of several employees.
