Job Summary
A Placement Aftercare Coordinator (PAC-PSB) will work with youth that have sexual related offenses to provide supervision and services to address identified risks and needs through case planning. They will work with the families to assist with any turmoil within the home as a result of their child’s offense. They will guide a youth and guardian through the probation process, and make appropriate referrals and recommendations based on the identified, individualized needs of the youth and family. The PAC-PSB will ensure adherence to court guidelines and probation orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Placement Manager, the PAC-PSB has responsibilities for investigation and/or supervision of cases of youth with sexual related offenses in the Probation Placement Unit.
Provides services for pre and post-adjudicated youth and their families in a fast-paced, stressful environment in an effort to reduce recidivism and to minimize involvement into the juvenile justice system.
Provides ongoing case management services to youth placed on probation for sexual related offenses including: monitoring behavior; developing, re-evaluating, and modifying case and safety plans; assisting families with potential turmoil within the home; and addressing youth trauma. Uses creative thinking when traditional interventions are not successful.
Interviews youth and families in their home, school, and probation office. Meets and interviews youth in the Detention Center or elsewhere, as appropriate, to develop a comprehensive social history and to obtain other relevant information for court presentations, and/or for further service planning.
Facilitates team meetings with treatment providers.
Makes articulate, professional, measured oral presentations of cases in court hearings, possibly on a moment’s notice, to Judges and Magistrates. Interprets court orders and makes necessary referrals to collateral agencies.
Prepares concise, thorough, accurate and very well-written reports that include case summaries, court reports, follow-up notes, and other correspondence.
Confers with their supervisor to evaluate case priorities and participate in case consultations.
Participates on committees to resolve system issues and to assist with recommendations to address a number of behaviors that may include violent behavior, behavioral health concerns, and substance abuse in addition to problematic sexual behavior.
Identifies needs and makes appropriate referrals to meet the needs and risks of youth and families, as identified by sexual behavior related risk assessments, and other relevant assessment tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.

Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility and confidential information that employee comes into contact with while working with probation clients.
Working Conditions
This position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations; may handle emergency or crisis situations; is subject to many interruptions; may handle multiple calls and inquiries simultaneously; and may occasionally assist in covering hearings or other court meetings of co-workers and team members. Work is conducted in an environment that is fluid, and may require frequently making last minute changes to accommodate clients and professionals.
Position requires to travel and visit with clients and family members, having varying working conditions outside of the courthouse. Contact involves occasional exposure to physical injury, illness, or hazards. May occasionally have exposure to unsafe working conditions, people, or elements, and may have to take precautions when performing tasks.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Must be willing to work in varied weather conditions and long periods of time in a vehicle.

Demonstrable knowledge of adolescent growth and development, human behavior, and family dynamics. Working knowledge of brokering community resources and an understanding of the youth justice system. Skills in interviewing, case assessment and individual counseling. Proven and effective verbal and written communication skills and abilities. Ability to effectively communicate new concepts to youth and families. Ability to make thorough, comprehensive oral presentations in court hearings and in team and committee meetings. Ability to effectively interpret case data and refer youth and families for interventions. Ability to make use of referrals. Exhibits sound and thorough decision making skills. Maintains confidentiality. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with clients, staff, and the public. Makes use of supervision. Culturally competent. Ability to effectively manage stress. Ability to de-escalate high stress/volatile situations. Works effectively with volatile clients. Ability to problem solve and multi-task. Flexible in work hours to accommodate program needs including, but not limited to, case consultation on an emergency or as needed basis 7 days/week, 24 hours/day, in person or by telephone.
This employee will be provided training specific to this population to include safety planning, team meeting facilitation, interpretation of problematic sexual behavior risk tools, and sexual classification tiers and requirements.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.
AND
Three (3) years of work experience with adolescents or relevant field experience in case management or other collateral systems interfacing with the juvenile justice system.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain valid automobile insurance, with a clean driving record and ready access to a safe functioning automobile.
