Benefits of Employment

Stipend: MST Assistant Manager is eligible to receive a $22 daily stipend to be paid monthly for after-hours crisis intervention that occurs beyond their 40 hours of full-time work.  This stipend is contingent upon securing grant funding for this specific purpose on a yearly basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises one MST team clinically and maintains adherence tasks and job requirements consistent with the MST Model.

Provides weekly written feedback on clinician paperwork and leads weekly group supervision for the one MST team to assure adherence to the MST principles and the MST analytical process and develop treatment intervention strategies.

Conducts individual supervision as needed to target clinician competency needs and to remove individual barriers to effective implementation of MST treatment.

Assures that all assessments are comprehensive, multi-systemic and correlates of referral behaviors to direct effective treatment within an ecological context.

Maintains current clinician development plans for each clinician, with quarterly formal updates and semi-annual strengths/needs assessments, and review of monthly clinician work samples (field visits or recorded sessions).

Provides direct clinical training to assure clinicians competency in all clinical areas relating to implementation of MST.

Assists in referral and caseload management by screening and assigning referrals.  

Maintains strong relationships with referring key participants and stakeholders.

Participates actively in ongoing development activities to acquire and hone the necessary skills and knowledge base required for this role, including taping of group supervision, receipt and incorporation of feedback from the MST Services consultant, supervisor development planning, quarterly supervisor trainings, and monthly peer group supervision.

Participates in Alternative Case Plan Team meetings. Serves as a substitute in the absence of the MST Probation Manager in other meetings such as Promise Team, Phoenix Court, and Pre Dispositional Review Planning meetings.

May maintain a small caseload of MST clients/families (if program capacity requires) which involves conducting home visits, field visits, school visits, phone calls, and collateral contacts daily. Completes MST paperwork for all clients/families. Participates in the weekly supervision and consultation of those assigned cases as the therapist.

Serves as an alternate at Court hearings for MST Therapists.

Enters and maintains MST and youth tracking data in the MST database for one team. Assists with other data tracking systems requested by the court. Assists in presenting data and outcomes to court administration, ODYS, ADAMHS Board, and the BHJJ Project.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides clinical supervision for one MST team. Serves as back up administrative supervisor in the absence of the MST Program Manager.

Equipment Operated

Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.

Confidential Data

All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.

Working Conditions

Potential exposure to hazardous situations that occur in the Court environment.  Must be able to tolerate exposure to evidence and testimony that may be disturbing, clients who may potentially be verbally or physically uncooperative, allergens, such as perfumes and dust. Must be willing to work flexible hours and be available as needed seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day.  Home visits required. 

Usual Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Must be knowledgeable in diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, corrections and court systems; diagnostic assessment and treatment planning for mental health disorders; individual, family, marital and CD counseling; clinical case planning, cognitive/behavioral therapies and in the implementation of the MST model.  Must have experience in assessment/clinical documentation/case notes, and in accessing and implementing clinical resources. Knowledge of family systems theory and application, social ecological theory and application, behavioral therapies theory and application, cognitive-behavioral therapy theory and application, pragmatic family therapies theory and application, child development research and its application in treatment, social skills assessment and intervention.   

Education and/or Experience

Requires a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage Family Therapy or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.

AND

Requires two (2) years of experience in clinical case planning, cognitive/behavioral therapies, structural and strategic family therapies and/or in the implementation of the MST model. 

Licensure or Certification Requirements

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain valid automobile insurance, with a clean driving record and ready access to a safe functioning automobile. Must hold an Independent License of Social Worker (LISW) or License of Professional Counselor (LPCC) in the State of Ohio. License must be maintained throughout the life of employment.
