Job Summary
This position is responsible for completing the onboarding process for new hires and internal promotions, demotions, and transfers. The position is required to ensure integrity and consistency in the Court’s onboarding process which includes employment offers, background checks, employment verifications, education verification, licensure verification, pre-employment physicals and drug testing, personnel and medical file creation, and orientation paperwork. The position is the first consistent Human Resources point of contact for new hires and the incumbent is expected to provide a seamless hiring experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works to ensure that the Court is in compliance with established hiring procedures and standards as related to the onboarding process.
Extends employment offers and provides instructions to candidates regarding pre-employment/post-offer drug testing, physicals, and fingerprint background checks.
Verifies candidates’ prior employment by contacting the companies/agencies listed on candidates’ applications and resumes; if prior employer was a public agency, requests personnel and public records.
Sends hire letters and pre-employment forms to the selected candidates for completion prior to their orientation day.
Coordinates and reviews all pre-employment paperwork. Once orientation is completed, creates personnel and medical files, distributes paperwork accordingly, follows up regarding any incomplete paperwork.
Coordinates promotion, demotion or transfer paperwork for internal applicants.
Coordinates the Recruitment Incentive Program for assigned department(s).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.
Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.
Working Conditions
This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Ability to prioritize candidates having a positive experience during the onboarding process and continuously strive to improve it. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential applicant and employee information with professionalism. Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast paced environment. Ability to comprehend a variety of reference and informational documents including, but not limited to, an Employee Handbook, the Ohio Revised Code, employment applications, personnel files, and other human resources documents. Excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff. Ability to work within deadlines. Must be detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to prioritize workload and identify and develop effective methods to maximize performance. Ability to work as a team member and independently. Knowledge of human resources information systems is helpful.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience. Two (2) years of work experience in a related Human Resources position is equivalent to one (1) year of education.
