Job Summary
The CBIC Assistant Manager co-facilitates groups, manages a small case load, and assists with managerial duties in the absence of the CBIC Manager. The CBIC Assistant Manager ensures that staff are upholding the fidelity to the evidence-based program. The CBIC Assistant Manager communicates with probation and home detention officers and maintain weekly reports for each youth they are serving. The CBIC Assistant Manager serves as a role model for the group facilitators in the unit and assists with mentoring new staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitates Community Based Intervention Center (CBIC) group using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach with assigned youth on a daily basis and adheres to the CBT model of service delivery.
Participates in individual team meetings on a regular basis in order to address youth concerns.
Provides direct supervision/monitoring of youth, actively participates and provides training on an ongoing basis, participates in community services, and organizes pro-social activities and outings with youth on a regular basis.
Participates in consultation/supervision on an ongoing basis.
Assists the CBIC Manager in planning, directing, and assigning work activities on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for the CBIC Unit staff and assists with the daily operations of the center.
Assesses, discusses with staff, and develops treatment intervention strategies that are consistent with the CBT model.
Assists with supervision of the CBIC Monitors, assists with all transportation needs and vehicle maintenance.
Participates in ongoing CBIC training, supervision, and consultation activities.
Assists the CBIC Manager in completing necessary documentation needed for daily program operations.
Assists the CBIC Manager with development and coordination of community service/ restitution and pro-social activities for youth involved in the program.
Demonstrates and maintains a strict adherence to the CBT model and programmatic guidelines at all times.
Maintains clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with CBT model.
Transports CBIC youth in CBIC van on an as-needed basis.
Collaborates with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout CBIC treatment.
Completes ongoing assessment/screening of youth.
Makes articulate, professional, measured oral presentations of cases in court hearings as needed.
Participates in weekly alternative case planning reviews and any other necessary case staffing meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has supervisory accountability for other employees, volunteers, or interns. Plans, directs and coordinates activities for a unit. Duties may include scheduling and assigning of work, training in all facets of work, quality control, and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others. Conducts performance evaluations, provides input into and participates in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes, and is accountable for editing timecards in Kronos for assigned staff.
Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.
Working Conditions
Works in a general office and court setting with moderate noise levels. Has frequent contact with youth clients, who may be uncooperative.
This position works flexible hours and weekends.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must have working knowledge of adolescent growth and development, human behavior and family dynamics; extensive skills in interviewing, case assessment, CBT group counseling/group dynamics, reviewing and summarizing relevant psychosocial information, and other pertinent data. Must have demonstrable leadership skills. Demonstrate effective communications skills, both written and oral. Must have the ability to supervise and manage staff in compliance with court/ departmental policies. Must be able to delegate and assign work responsibilities and evaluate work responsibilities and evaluate work performance. Must be capable of facilitating CBT groups on a daily basis. Must successfully demonstrate skills in case management and the ability to prioritize work activities and complete assignments on a daily basis. Must be culturally competent and able to handle stressful and possibly volatile situations. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license and insurance, a safe driving record with no major violations within the last five years, and have ready access to an automobile. Must be computer literate.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Behavioral/Social Sciences.
AND
Three (3) years of case management and/or direct experience working with youth required. Experience conducting group therapy is preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
Persons with a related Bachelor’s Degree and significant experience working with serious anti-social behavior in youth may also qualify at the discretion of the agency.
Knowledge of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division system and the CBT model in conducting group therapy is preferred.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain valid automobile insurance, with a safe driving record including, but not limited to, no major traffic violations.
