Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. Reasonable accommodations will be made for disabled persons covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act, in accordance with its requirements.
Assesses and manages the record keeping and collection of parental support orders for youth in private residential facilities and ODYS, as well as, other court ordered collection accounts. Monitors and responds to non-compliance of Court orders, and makes necessary correspondence with the courtrooms regarding payment obligations.
Answers client, courtroom, and outside agency inquiries in person or on telephone.
Develops and maintains court collection account records, such as a log of all child support payments received.
On a daily basis, balances all accounts and cash drawer with supporting documentation, and prepares child support deposit.
Prepares and submits various periodic reports regarding collection activity and expenditures and provides statistical information upon request.
Completes routine transactions such as preparing checks for forfeited or discharged bonds, disbursing GAL fees, and disbursing refunds owed to clients.
Manages all child support bonds paid at Juvenile Court.
Documents collection and payment information regarding youth placement and Social Security benefits. Prepares orders for Judge and completes applications for Social Security.
Determines indigency eligibility for poverty affidavits.
Serves as back-up to the Cashier by collecting payments from clients for costs, fines, GAL fees, filing fees and bonds, warrant recalls, child support payments, and other various payments.
Responsible for NSF (returned) checks.
Performs other duties as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.
Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.
Working Conditions
Works in a general office setting with moderate noise levels. May be subject to interruptions, quick deliverables, and changing work deadlines.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge of cash collection and reconciliation principles. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, agencies, and Court staff. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Skills in obtaining sensitive data through client interviews and devising viable solutions to support-related problems. Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidate must obtain passing scores on the pre-employment Excel test (7/10) and Cash Handling Test (21/30).
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience. (1 year of college = 2 years of work experience)
AND
Three (3) years of experience in bookkeeping or other related fields. Work experience must include experience in handling cash transactions.
