Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive Human Resource support for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division in the areas of employment, benefits, personnel policy administration, labor and employee relations and training and development.

Develops, coordinates and presents various trainings to Court staff, including but not limited to management training, staff development training, and Kronos training for new managers.

Develops, implements, and administers a manager/employee mentoring program.

Develops, implements, and administers a stay interview program.

Assists with conducting workplace investigations and performing employee relations duties.

Works with supervisors to prepare and/or update job postings and update interview questionnaires. Serves on interview teams for departments.

Performs payroll functions including entering and verifying hours and other employee information submitted to the County Fiscal Office, processing raises, and processing timecards and performs other various payroll functions as needed for backup.

Performs generalist duties and assists in all areas of Human Resources as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for one's own work product and supervision and guidance, assistance, or mentorship to less knowledgeable or experienced coworkers, volunteers, or interns.

Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones

Confidential Data

All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.

Working Conditions

This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet with changing work deadlines.

Usual Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Ability to interpret and use Human Resources terminology; ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast paced environment; ability to comprehend a variety of reference books including, but not limited to, an Employee Handbook and the Ohio Revised Code; excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication skills; ability to work within deadlines; communicate effectively with all levels of staff; knowledge of Kronos preferred; must be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize workload and identify and develop effective programs to maximize performance; ability to work as a team member and independently; ability to comprehend a variety of informational documents including, but not limited to, employment applications, personnel files, U.S. Department of Labor medical forms and other human resources documents; must be well organized; demonstrable personal computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft programs including, but not limited to, Word and Excel; must have comprehensive knowledge of Human Resource functions and responsibilities; ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience. Two (2) years of work experience in a related Human Resources position is equivalent to one (1) year of education.

AND

Three (3) years of Human Resources experience in a generalist role, including training, employee relations/investigations, or related field.
