Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts MST assessments and implements treatment plans.

Conducts MST assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problem behaviors within the ecological context.

Engages primary caregiver and other key participants in active change‑oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.

Implements a problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review, and strategy revision procedure using the MST Analytic Process.

Maintains clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the 9 MST Principles and the MST Analytic Process.

Collaborates with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout MST treatment.

Provides direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST principles and practices.

Participates in all MST training, supervision and consultation activities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.

Equipment Operated

Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.

Confidential Data

All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.

Working Conditions

Potential exposure to hazardous situations that occur in the Court environment. Must be able to tolerate exposure to evidence and testimony that may be disturbing, clients who may potentially be verbally or physically uncooperative, allergens, such as perfumes and dust.

Usual Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Must be knowledgeable of family systems theory and application, social ecological theory and application, behavioral therapies theory and application, cognitive‑behavioral therapy theory and application, pragmatic family therapies theory and application, child development research and its application in treatment, social skills assessment and intervention. Home visits required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject area and five (5) years’ experience with delinquent/high-risk adolescents and families known to the juvenile justice system with a Bachelor’s Degree or 1 year of experience with a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling. Direct use of pragmatic (i.e. structural, strategic and functional) family therapies; individual therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques; marital therapy using behaviorally-based approaches; behavioral therapy targeting school behavior and academic performance; implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youth’s natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of youth (i.e. family, peers, school, and neighborhood). Prefer candidates with a Master’s Degree.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain valid automobile insurance, with a clean driving record and ready access to a safe functioning automobile.
