Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures the welfare, security, and care of youth who are involved in the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program by utilizing cognitive behavior therapy techniques, behavior management techniques, and established policies and procedures.
Supervises the youth while transporting them to and from the CBT Program.
Monitors and supervises the behavior and activities of youth in the CBT Program.
Interacts with youth on a constant basis through participation in activities, group activities, and modeling behavior.
Instructs and directs youth regarding rules and behavior within the program and while driving the van to and from the CBT program.
Inspects and reports any contraband or security problems regarding the youth to the Manager and/or chain of command.
Reports problems or incidents with youth to CBT Facilitators and/or Manager. 
Completes travel logs and prepares written reports as required.
Provides input to the team relative to youths' needs or concerns during daily supervision team meetings.
Assists with providing meals and administrative duties as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.

Equipment Operated

Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.

Confidential Data

All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.

Working Conditions

Works in a general office and court setting with moderate noise levels.  Has frequent contact with youth clients, who may be uncooperative.  This position is subject to significant time in a motor vehicle, with varying weather conditions.

Usual Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
 
Must have ability to appropriately manage youths behavior while they are in his/her care; capacity to work in close environment with co-workers and youth; ability to identify problems in behavioral terminology; demonstrated communication skills; ability to handle stressful situations, working knowledge of vehicle operations and map reading; ability to work with troubled youth; must be familiar with security and safety measures pertaining to the transportation of youth. Good oral and written skills.
Requires successful completion of driving test.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma required. 
 
AND
 
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience – directly caring for and/or monitoring adolescents.  Experience driving adolescents is preferred.  Verifiable college education can substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience. One year of college coursework equals two (2) years of experience.  (For example, a candidate with one (1) year of verifiable college education and one (1) year of experience working with adolescents would meet the minimum education and experience requirements.)
 
Preferred: Associate’s Degree in the area of Social Sciences or Criminal Justice and one (1) year of work experience driving adolescents.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain valid automobile insurance, with a safe driving record including, but not limited to, no major traffic violations.
