Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs diverse support and clerical duties for the in-house attorneys in the Court’s Legal Department.
Formats and reviews contracts and ensures that all supporting documentation and approvals are complete.
Maintains a system for tracking contracts and related documentation in collaboration with the Legal and Fiscal Departments.
Reviews invoices for purposes of contract monitoring and compliance.
Provides routine calendaring assistance using Outlook (e.g., due dates, scheduling meetings, etc.).
Supports internal and external attorneys with investigation, mediation, arbitration, and/or litigation tasks, including interrogatories and other discovery requests.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.
Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers, and telephones.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.
Working Conditions
Potential exposure to hazardous situations that may occur in the court environment. Must be able to tolerate exposure to evidence and testimony that may be disturbing; clients who may potentially be verbally or physically uncooperative; allergens, such as perfumes and dust. Works in a general office setting with moderate noise levels. May be subject to interruptions, quick deliverables, and changing work deadlines.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, to speak clearly, and to hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Ability to type 50 wpm on automated system, use proper grammar and spelling, and organize work assignments to complete work in a timely manner. Must be a quick learner. Must make good use of time and be well-organized with attention to detail and accuracy; handle routine duties without constant supervision; ability to maintain confidentiality and attorney-client privilege; establish and maintain positive working relationships with Court officials and the public; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work with numbers, including basic understanding of arithmetic. Must be computer literate—proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to acquire knowledge and use of MS Planner and Access and the Court’s case management system; strong skill set in entering, maintaining, and verifying data.
Education and/or Experience
Associate’s Degree or higher level of education in related field required. Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or completion of ABA-approved paralegal program preferred.
AND
Some related work experience preferred.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
NFPA CORE or Registered Paralegal, OSBA Certified Paralegal, or NALA Certified Paralegal preferred.
