Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Resource Center Clerk provides clerical support to the Resource Center as well as assists the Supervisor within the assigned unit.
Greets clients and staff.
Answers and directs incoming telephone calls.
Utilizes the Juvenile Court case information system to enter and retrieve court-related data.
Maintains a database of all clients visiting the Resource Center.
Provides legal information (not legal advice) and paperwork to clients visiting the Resource Center.
Interacts with Mediation staff and Clerk’s Office staff to verify information.
Answers in-person requests from clients, counsel, courtrooms, and Court staff.
Maintains accurate, ongoing updates of client activity.
Provides front line support to staff resolving work-related issues as they arise; consults with the Supervisor when a work- related issue cannot be resolved independently.
Provides coverage assisting with work-related issues.
Suggests modifications or improvements to processes and procedures.
Works in collaboration with Clerk’s Office and Mediation staff.
Contacts other courts, agencies, etc. to access screening information and provide applicable paperwork.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has no direct supervisory responsibility for staff members.
Equipment Operated
Standard office equipment and office technology such as copy machines, personal computers and telephones.
Confidential Data
All court-related information regarding hearings, etc. that the employee may come in contact with by working in the facility.
Working Conditions
Potential exposure to hazardous situations that may occur in the court environment. Must be able to tolerate exposure to evidence and testimony that may be disturbing; clients who may potentially be verbally or physically uncooperative; allergens, such as perfumes and dust.
Usual Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to repetitively lift and move up to 15 pounds.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This position is subject to many interruptions and may be required to handle multiple calls and inquiries at once.
Must have good oral and written communication skills, intermediate level computer skills, ability to use a copy machine and a fax machine. Working knowledge of Intake & Mediation Office overall operations and the importance of how it fits into the Court. Must be dependable. Must possess the ability to answer a large volume of phone calls daily and have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work effectively with courtroom personnel, other court employees and the general public. Must be professional and helpful in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment. Proficient in operating iCase and knowledge of Microsoft Word. Must be a self-starter with leadership abilities. Must be alert and able to handle stressful situations and use good judgement in notifiying appropriate indicuatival to deal with problem situations in the office. Ability to speak Spanish is helpful.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred.
And
Minimum of one (1) year clerical experience in a legal setting; prefer experience working in a Clerk’s Office performing legal services clerk or deputy clerk duties.
